Fellowstream Evaluation: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
It’s been almost 3 months since Fellowstream first saw the light of day. And my, how our little baby has grown. From kitchen table concept to beta, Fellowstream has evolved in ways we never expected: from user feedback, from our own personal experience, and through the process of throwing bytes onto our server.
Just like children need the occasional check-up, though, Fellowstream needed an evaluation. When things grow organically (the way they do at Avalon Labs), you can expect some things to feel natural, other things to feel forced. With that mind, we did a complete 360 review of the site between the internal development team and external customers. Here’s what we concluded:
The Good
- My Workspace task creation and list prioritization’s working for most people
- Pages are great for storing knowledge inside the system. (In fact, we’d like to see more page functionality across the board).
- Assigning tasks is easy and simple – people love this feature!
The Bad
- Groups. Nobody uses them and they cause confusion. Double blargh.
- No easy way to print out a list of tasks.
The Ugly (or the UI)
- The stream! It has a lot of good information, but almost too much to be useful. That info needs to be more organized.
- The Project View has too much information. We should be able to organize that information in a much more fluid way.
- The notification system is hard to access. We need to find a new home for it rather than under an itty-bitty icon.
So what’s next? We’ve been spending the better part of July thinking of how to re-engineer the site with these tweaks in mind. We think you’ll like what we’re developing. But always, if you have suggestions before you see the new update, post ’em in the comments or write me at deborah@fellowstream.com.
