Although I wrote it about personal relationships, it applies to teamwork too.  First impressions are an important part of how we judge people, but we need ways to re-assess and evaluate the people we work with.  If you bring a rookie onto the team, for example, allow that person to grow out of his “newness.”  Who knows?  If you evaluate people often enough, you just might surprise yourself.
